Is Your Website Losing You Calls? 10 Things Small Businesses Should Check Today
Ten quick checks that show whether your small-business website is turning visitors into calls, from mobile speed to the phone number placement.

A website can look fine and still lose customers every day. Most visitors give a local business site a few seconds. If they cannot see what you do, where you work and how to reach you, they press back and call the next result.
Here are ten checks you can do yourself in ten minutes, on your own phone.
1. Is the phone number tappable at the top of every page?
On a phone, your number should be visible without scrolling and should start a call when tapped. If customers have to copy it or hunt for it on a contact page, some of them will not bother.
2. Does the first screen say what you do and where?
“Welcome to our website” tells a visitor nothing. “Same-day AC repair in Plano and Allen” tells them they are in the right place.
3. Does it load in under three seconds on mobile data?
Turn off Wi-Fi and open your site. If you are waiting, so are your customers. Oversized images and too many plugins are the usual causes.
4. Is there a page for each main service?
One “Services” page with a list of bullet points rarely ranks. A separate page for each main service, with real details, photos and questions answered, gives Google and customers what they are looking for.
5. Can people see proof?
Reviews, photos of real work, logos of clients, years in business, licences and certifications. Proof answers the question every visitor has: can I trust them?
6. Is the contact form short?
Name, phone or email, and what they need. Every extra field loses people. Test your own form: does the message actually arrive in your inbox, and how fast?
7. Does it work on HTTPS without warnings?
Browsers mark sites without a valid SSL certificate as “Not secure”. Many visitors leave as soon as they see it. An expired certificate is one of the most common problems we find.
8. Are your hours and service areas current?
Old hours, old addresses and cities you no longer serve confuse customers and Google alike. Make sure the website matches your Google Business Profile.
9. Does each page have a proper title and description?
The title and description are what people see in Google’s results. “Home” or a long list of keywords gets fewer clicks than a clear sentence such as “Roof Repair in Rockwall | Free Inspection”.
10. Do you know how many calls and forms it brings?
If you do not measure it, you cannot improve it. Google Analytics 4, call tracking and form tracking show which pages and channels bring real leads.
Want a quick score?
